A) BIRDING TOUR IN OTAMENTDI NATUER RESER AND CEIBAS (ENTRE RIOS)

Program: Full day tour.
Buenos Aires and Parana Delta Birding Tour. This excursion will take us birding to the best localities north of Buenos Aires. We will first visit Otamendi Nature Reserve, located by the Parana River, Spreading over 2600 ha. The reserve protects grasslands, marshes, riverside forest and woods. After crossing the Parana Delta we´ll explore the northern deltaic marshes and espinal woodlands of Entre Rios province.
The mosaic of different habitats holds an incredible diversity of birds. We expect to find many species of heron, Long-winged Harrier, Limpkin and Giant Wood-Rail, Spectacled Tyrant, Great Pampa-Finch and Scarlet-headed Blackbird. Also possible are Curve-bellied and Straight-billed Reedhaunters. Many-colored Rush-Tyrant and Long-tailed Reed-Finch. Among others, The Thorny woodlands and gallery forests are home to Checkered Woodpecker, Narrow-billed Woodcreeper, Stripe-crowned Spinetall. Rofous-capped Antshrike, Red-rumped Warbling-Finch, Diademed and Sayaca Tanagers an Ultramarine Grosbeak.
Once in Entre Rios, we expect to find Greater Rhea, Shothern Screamer, Savana Hawk, White-fronted and White Woodpeckers, Scimitar-billed Woodpeckers, Brown Cacholate, Lark-like Brushrunner, Firewood-gatherer. Short-billed Canastero, Chotoy Canastero, Chotoy Spinetail, Tufted Tit-Spinetail, White-naped Xenopsaris and Crowned Slaty Flycatcher, among others.
Springtime brings migrant visitors such as Dark-billed and Ash-colored Cuckoos, Yellow-browed Tyrant, Bran-colored Flycatcher, Black-backed Water-Tyrant, Fork-tailed Flycatcher, Warbling Doradito and Masked Yellowthroat.
Tour Pace and recommended equipment: This tour is appropriate for those of all ages in good health. No hike will be longer than 1000 m (O,6 ml). Expect hot days in summer (25-35 C/ 77-95 F in Jan-Mar) and lower temperatures in winter (0-10 C/ 32-50 F jun-Aug). Besides the appropriate clothing for each time of the year, we recommend bringing a hat and walking shoes (rubber boots are not necessary).

B) BIRDING TOUR IN OTAMENTDI NATUER RESER AND CEIBAS (ENTRE RIOS)
Season: October to March
Program: 2 Days-1 Night
Day 1: Pick up at 6:30 am, in a prearranged location. One day tour birding, in xeric woodlands and marshes in Ceibas (Entre Rios province). This is probably the best birding site near Buenos Aires; a well-known place for birders, which it was surveyed for the last 20 years. Normally in a spring day (with good weather) the total list here is about 80 species. Overnight: Hotel in Los Cardales village.
Day 2: In the morning we will visit the famous Otamendi NP, birding in the marshy area and the riparian forest along the streams. On the way back to Buenos Aires, we can visit an “urban reserve” near the city. Return to Buenos Aires at about 6 pm.
