BIRDING IN ARGENTINA – BIRDING IN MARTIAL GLACIER AND NAVIGATION TO PEGUIN COLONY (Yellow-Bridled Finch and Gentoo Penguin)

In the morning: Transfer from the hotel to the base of the Martial Glacier. Starting point for our hike to reaching the High Andes vegetation, several species of birds can be seen. Passing the timberline, there is a good chance to see the Yellow-bridled Finch, Gray-flancked Cinclodes, Ochre-naped Ground-Tyrant, etc.

Birds: Upland Goose, Southern Lapwing, White–bellied Seedsnipe, Gray-flancked Cinclodes, Buff-winged Cinclodes, Thorn-tailed Rayadito, Magellanic Tapaculo, Ochre-naped Ground-Tyrant, Dark-faced Ground-Tyrant, Austral Thrush, Patagonian Sierra- Finch, Yellow-bridled Finch, Black-chinned Siskin. Etc.
In the morning: Catamaran tour: See Lyon, Bird Islands and Penguin colony. Different kinds of marine birds will accompany us throughout the trip. Without birding guide for navigation.We start our tour from the tourist pear crossing Ushuaia’s wide bay until reaching the Beagle Channel across Paso Chico. There we sail around Isla de los Pájaros and Isla de los Lobos. Both islands belong to the Archipelago Bridges. When come to the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, we will be able to see the colonies of imperial Shag and Rock Shag, and listen to the history of the sinking of the SS Monte Cervantes who led in 1930. Then We sail eastward enjoying the wonderful landscapes of the channel and the mountains that surround it, there we will spy on the coast Argentina. Port Almanza and on the Chilean cost the Naval Base Port Williams, and then we will come to the Island Martillo where we will have the opportunity to see a colony of Magellanic and Gentoo Penguins. Here, we change direction to return to Ushuaia, navigating near the coast north of the Channel.
